Bio
Aidon is a Chartered Professional Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland, holding additional registration as a Registered Building Practitioner in Victoria. Graduating with Honours from the University of Queensland, he earned a Master's degree in Civil and Fire Safety Engineering.
During his academic pursuits Aidon’s research provided vital insights in developing a framework to understand the self-extinction of mass timber elements in compartment fires. His research involvements extend to diverse areas, including the survivability of pacemakers in post-flashover fires, the study of fuel requirements for the thermal degradation of bodies by means of open pyre cremation and the study of fire fighter protective clothing.
In the capacity of a visiting Research Scholar at the ARC Future Timber Hub from 2019 to 2020, Aidon contributed to research endeavors aimed at comprehending the impact of fire on mass timber structures. Aidon has emerged as a distinguished figure within the construction industry, showcasing expertise in evaluating fire effects on timber, steel and concrete structures and formulating fire safety strategies for complex and novel building designs. Aidon also serves as the Secretary for the Engineers Australia, Society of Fire Safety, Queensland Chapter, and remains an active contributor to various practice guides in the construction sector.
Co-founding Carbon Fire Engineering subsequent to his position as a Senior Fire Engineer at Holmes, Aidon's professional journey has included the delivery of fire safety strategies for complex and iconic projects across Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, and Western Australia. His extensive expertise extends across diverse project sectors, encompassing commercial and retail, education, industrial, residential and infrastructure.
Prior to working as a fire engineer Aidon was employed as an Auxiliary Firefighter with the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES). The knowledge acquired during his four-year tenure at QFES enables him to integrate fire safety engineering strategies that are practical and able to align with standard fire brigade intervention procedures.
Throughout his career, Aidon has developed a deep understanding of fire engineering principles and practices, leveraging academic qualifications and practical experience to deliver best-for project solutions for his clients. His specialist expertise centres on developing innovative and cost-effective solutions targeted at the specific needs of each project. Through his desire to showcase his commitment to advancing the safety of modern building design Aidon works closely with all project collaborators.
