Computational Fire Modelling

At Carbon Fire Engineering, we have extensive experience in the adoption and development of computational tools in order to assist with the analysis of the most complex of buildings.

Any complex interconnected building, heavily occupied building, or unique structural form demands a deviation from the prescriptive rules of the building code. This leads to project uncertainty and ultimately an increased approvals risk. A pragmatic solution is required to resolve these issues, however this must be communicated clearly to approval authorities and fire brigades, and also be grounded in fundamental fire engineering principles.

The tools utilised by our engineers include advanced Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) fire and smoke modelling, dynamic egress modelling, and thermal and structural finite element modelling. If a specific tool for the problem is not readily available, our engineers will look to develop a bespoke tool and solution for the specific project.
